Customer Service & Retention AI

tawk.to

tawk.to is intended for the ecommerce job of give shoppers a direct support route from a storefront and provide an operator with a shared conversation view. tawk.to publishes a Shopify help article for connecting the service to a store. For a non-technical operator, assess whether the required store or business inputs can be maintained, who owns exceptions, and whether a pilot can be measured by response-time coverage, solved questions, and conversion-assisted chats—not simply whether an account can be switched on. Live chat only helps if coverage, response ownership, customer-data handling, and escalation are planned. Do not add a widget without staffing its operating hours.

Questions to answer before buying

Data and operating inputs

Can the team keep Customer questions and Store pages accurate and use them only for the documented workflow?

Public answer: Official materials list Customer questions and Store pages as the inputs and Live chat and Support conversations as the work it supports. That explains the product's scope; it does not show whether your own account data is complete or accurate. Before setup, confirm that the required store data can stay current and that key definitions match.

Pilot and rollout

Which small, reversible workflow can test Live chat and Support conversations before the team expands it?

Public answer: Start with one small use case that can be paused or rolled back, and record the current baseline. Start with a narrow, documented set of customer intents or a single review/feedback workflow. Use approved store policies and a clear human escalation owner. Audit customer-visible messages and exceptions before expanding volume. Compare “response-time coverage, solved questions, and conversion-assisted chats” with the current workflow or a control. Wait for a complete business cycle before expanding.

Owner and exception path

Who owns configuration, exception review, and the human stop path when the workflow is wrong or incomplete?

Public answer: Public guidance is aimed at Store operator and Customer support lead. Before launch, name the people who configure the workflow, review exceptions, and can stop it. Also check: Live chat only helps if coverage, response ownership, customer-data handling, and escalation are planned. Do not add a widget without staffing its operating hours. Public documentation cannot assign these internal owners for you.

Price and contract scope

What will the first month, actual usage, add-ons, implementation, and contract terms cost—not just the headline plan?

Public answer: No current public pricing page was identified in the audited source set. Confirm any paid staffing, AI, branding, or integration options separately from the core chat availability. The listed amounts come from the vendor and may exclude tax, implementation, add-ons, usage, or contract commitments. Check the official page again before purchase.

Measurement before expansion

Which baseline, exception case, and decision rule will decide whether the pilot expands or stops?

Public answer: Record the current baseline for response-time coverage, solved questions, and conversion-assisted chats. Run one normal case and one exception case alongside the current workflow. Use the same rule to decide whether to expand or stop.

Pros

  • Its main job is to give shoppers a direct support route from a storefront and provide an operator with a shared conversation view. It is not designed to replace every ecommerce tool.
  • Start with a small test and use response-time coverage, solved questions, and conversion-assisted chats to decide whether to expand.

Cons

  • Live chat only helps if coverage, response ownership, customer-data handling, and escalation are planned. Do not add a widget without staffing its operating hours.
  • No current public pricing page was identified in the audited source set. Confirm any paid staffing, AI, branding, or integration options separately from the core chat availability.
  • A named owner, reliable data sources, and a human fallback are still needed. Installation is only the start.

Shopify App Store listing: tawk.to Live Chat. These reviews cover this exact app listing, not every product surface from the vendor.

the shame thing is the $29 AI plan is not available in shopify

Handy app. It is really annoying though. By default it has a really obnoxious sound that plays when your users visit your site. It has a popup chat message that is automatically enabled that you have to hunt for the setting to disable. It also does not allow you to manage, change or update any settings from inside the Shopfiy Admin area, you have to to to Tawk.to's website to change anything.

LuvvyBugCanada

if i could leave 0 stars i would. 29$ a month to remove one line of text with no exceptions . a complete scam
